Clown Mask Photographs

I have a lovely new gadget, so i thaught i'd have a quick play about with it :) 

(I really hope this doesnt scare too many people away, so incase anyones scared of clowns, SCROLL DOWN QUICK!) 

My new gizmo is a neat little camera, nothing too flashy and it was second hand, but it works well and im pretty damn happy with it!

These photos are of my clown mask (which features in a post loooooong ago) that i made a couple of years ago for Halloween. I played about with the shutter speeds and movement to make them look like this. I think they look a bit like they're laughing away and something fairly grousome...

Ive been etching with with aquatint an all! :)

Its a very enjoyable process which... i have... enjoyed!

Ive found that a huge variety of marks can be made when using both the hardground etching and aquatint, i also like that each colour print is ever so slightly different, which gives a unique quality to each print of the same thing. Ive also invested in a fairly cheep, half decent camera that a friend was selling, so thats why these pictures aren't quite as grainy or grimey as the usual ones :D (the ones that werent previously were from borrowed cameras)

When i leave college in july im going to miss the print facilities, but im mooving out so hey, its going to be good!! However... money is needed to survive off until i get a proper job, so im going to be cheeky and say, anyone wanna buy a print? name a price? not looking for alot... 100% of all money goes towards a starving artist! DONATE NOW AND GET A FREE PRINT!! ;)

But seriously... c'mon, please?

Also, Download Festival looks good this year (Cancer Bats, Refused, The James Cleaver Quintet and many many more bands are playing)

First of all i am going to apologise for the awfull

photographic quality of these images, i have no money for a decent camera, so nasty, grainy, grey-ish photos shall have to do, untill i stumble across a Leprechaun (the hunt has begun) or get adopted by a million heir and then can afford a good camera. but bad quality pictures are better than no pictures right?

Well here they are anyway!!

This is where i have lived since the age of about 2 or 3 and the opening sampling of Lost by Neurosis did get me thinking, most of my powerfull childhood memories are based in this part of the village i grew up in, well i supose im still growing up but do we ever stop growing and evolving to an extent? Well thats besides the point i guess.

"Looking Through You"

I have taken photos of strangers at random (with their permission) to create a collaged society, showing exterior influences through a mixed medium image, to show how a society stares as a fickle unit of inconsistencies.          

Comprising of all, united by none, judgemental of you.

 This was displayed at the 'Project 106' building in weymouth from the 20th to the 21st

"Looking Through", a photographic exhibition

So tomorrow my collage groups photography exhibition is going up in 'Project 106' in Weymouth High Street. There will be a huge variety of work all with an individual aproach to "looking through" hopefully it will go well, i'll blog my images soon. from 6 till 9 tomorrow is the privet viewing, but it is open to the public from 10 untill 5 on friday, please feel free to pop in and have a nose about :)

i am studying photography at college and will be up until half term. i found alot of beautiful surfaces and objects and chose to look at them in a different light and context. here are a few bits and peices:

cubism inspired photo montage

although this took no where near as much skill or thaught as a cubist painting, the over all effect and process was interesting. i managed to align all the photots in a way that shows the still life from 360 degrees which is very similer to how it was set up but retains the disjointed chaos.

This is the clown costume i made for Halloween in 2010

To make the mask i created a mold from plaster scene, covered it in cling film and then used paper mache to make almost a cast of it that was light weight enough to where. I painted it with acrylics and used a dusting technique to create the smooth, layered colour transitions. This photo was taken on weymouth sea front by my friend Abi Arnold, who is a fantastic photographer and managed to make this image look so ghostly by moveing the camera in circles while taking the photo. The lighting in the back ground is currently being re-designed by an amazing artist from Lous, Vong Phaophanit.
