Noises and such...

I've been making noises...

These are some sound experiments I have been working on.
Think of them as sonic sketches if you like,
just ideas that were floating around my head.

Apologies for the poor recordings, I did them in my bedroom DI after my pedal board into my computer. And if I'm totally honest, I don't really understand the whole EQ-ing process so completely avoided it.

I would urge you that if you listen to a song, listen to it in its entirety, as with most music, it makes
more sense that way...

This first one is quite an ambient post-rock sound-scape with lots of layers of guitars.

Ok, here things venture away a bit from the ambience of  the last one into a bit of Drone and a genre referred to as Noise... because people often describe it as that. Its a just synth-scape and a bass, you may need good headphones to keep up with some of the frequencies of these next 2, but you have been warned about loud noises...

Even noisier droning guitars (just two layers with my Telecaster), based on those semi-concious moments, drifting in and out of sleep and being disturbed when not entirely concious, sensations of falling and clawing at those last few seconds you're in bed to try and keep hold of them forever. Dreams you fail to take back. I'm sure we've all been there. enjoy! (or hate it, either is good)

I've also been associating these sounds with images. I'm quite fond of textural
photography and have been doing a lot of it recently.
These photos weren't created entirely to suit the music, nor they other way round,
but I feel that the images in each video match the personality of each song that I have
chosen for them to accompany.

(just noticed blogger is compressing the files further because it wouldn't let me upload straight from my Youtube which you can find HERE )

Thanks for being on my blog.
Thanks for reading this or just looking at the pictures.
And if you bothered to take the time to listen to a song in its entirety, congratulations on becoming awesome.

Gojira Pedals

Great news!!

Gojira Pedals, who make all sorts of fantastic custom guitar effects pedals, wanted to put some of my artwork on their pedals!!! So of course I let them :D

This is the image Gojira Pedals used.
Have you ever tried burning receipts and found it rather difficult?
Have you ever tried to keep an important receipt in your wallet and its gone blank?
This is because a lot of them aren't printed with ink, the writing is actually made by hot pads that turn the paper's surface black upon contact. I kinda figured this out whilst casually sat about holding a lighter to a receipt, as you do, then blue tac'd them to my wall for.... quite some time.
When I found them again something strange had happened.
The surface had formed crystals, they looks like some kind of enchanting alien landscape.
The crystals are hard to see on the photographs, but they are the tiny dots.
I have no idea why they are there, perhaps it might have something to do with whatever makes it blacken with heat? Some sort of carbon layer? Diamonds are made of carbon..... hmmmm....

Here is the unedited image

Here is the finished pedal!!
A brilliant little Octafuzz stomp box!
who wouldnt want to lower their guitar an entire octave and kick in some killer fuzz with just ONE switch?

It's fair to say I am well and truly chuffed!

THANKS GUYS!!!

or

Drop them a message and let them know what it is you want, they're ace!!

Ringstead

Acrylic on acid free paper
30x16.7cm

I went to a coastal area of Dorset called Ringstead a while ago, took thousands of photos and went through them the other week. This painting is what became of them.

Thanks for your visit to my blog! I hope you've enjoyed it!
